How the calculator works

  1. New salary = current salary × (1 + raise %).
  2. Both salaries go through the same 2026 federal brackets, Social Security, Medicare and state rules as the paycheck calculator.
  3. The raise you keep is the difference in take-home pay, per year and per paycheck.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a 3% raise on $60,000 after taxes?

A 3% raise on $60,000 is $1,800 a year before tax. A single filer keeps $1,446 of it in Texas ($55.63 more every two weeks) and $1,315 in California ($50.58 more every two weeks), with 2026 rules.

Can a raise push me into a higher tax bracket and lower my take-home pay?

No. A higher rate applies only to the dollars above the bracket line, never to the rest of your pay. A single filer going from $66,000 to $69,300 in Texas crosses into the 22% bracket and still takes home $2,372 more a year.

How do I calculate a percentage raise?

Multiply your salary by 1 plus the raise: $60,000 × 1.03 = $61,800. The calculator then runs both salaries through the same tax rules and shows the difference per paycheck and per year.

Why do I keep less of my raise than of the rest of my salary?

Your raise is taxed at your top rate, your salary at a mix of lower ones. On $60,000 in California, 20.0% of pay goes to taxes overall, but 26.9% of the raise does.
